Prunus x 'Sweet Treat'

This Sweet Treat was the first of the interspecific crosses created by the prolific modern breeder Fred Zaiger to carry the name pluerry (plum/sweet cherry cross, with bits other prunus family members like apricot and peach). It looks like a rounded, red Asian plum, and the flavor is mostly plum as well, but the cherry brings lots more sweetness and complexity. Clingstone, with lovely amber flesh and a surprisingly small pit.

Reliably pollinated by Asian plums like Toka, Shiro and Beauty, this ripens late and is worth the wait.

Excellent Freestone Pluerries

This tree was planted in early 2021 in Glenwood Springs, CO. It's done better than the other pluerry (Sugar Twist), about on par with the pluots.

Love it for several reasons. Beautiful freestone fruit with orange flesh and a nice crimson blush on the outside. Seems fairly resistant to pests so far. At least here, it ripens so late in the year that I don't have to defeat magpies in mortal combat to eat them.

Sweeter than the Sugar Twist. Much smaller, more abundant fruit. Modestly more cherry flavor, but still a distinct plum base. Nice overtones give it a unique bouquet.

Sugar Twist not pictured because of a bad run-in with some deer in 2022, but it'll make it.

Has to be the best root stock

I bought 3 trees. A Plum, a mixed Plum, and a Pluot. They are so beautiful. Roots were good because they were prepared right prior to shipping. There were actually branches, not 2 pointy sticks, and they are all full of buds. I will not buy another fruit tree unless it is a Raintree.
Thank you all
