When we say Columbia Giant, we're not kidding! Enjoy bountiful crops of the largest-ever, thornless blackberries. The mild-flavored fruit is firm and easy to pick, conical in shape, and sweet - with a pleasing touch of tartness and just a hint of raspberry flavor. The plants are trailing and vigorous, and would benefit from trellis support.

It is a new introduction from Oregon State University and the USDA, proven to thrive and be hardy in the Pacific Northwest and many other areas of the nation. Ripens early summer - early July here in the PNW. Plant patent 28,369. USDA Zones 6-9.

  • Is it full sun or can take part shade or full shade

    For best berries it needs full sun. It is not shade tolerant and cannot live in full shade.

  • How early should I plant these in zone 6?

    As soon as the ground is no longer frozen.

  • Do I need a pollinator with the Columbia Giant blackberry?

    Not at all. As with most blackberries, these are self fertile.

  • best time to plant zone 9

    Springtime.

Buy with confidence! I'm looking forward to these healthy and thriving little 4"*4" potted starts. They arrived well packaged and as expected. They immediately started to develop leaves and now branches in just a couple short weeks.

an excellent start

The raspberry arrived in excellent condition. I am planting it inside a 27 gallon storage container(with lots of holes for drainage). It is inside a fence, to keep the deer away from it. It is doing well, going to sleep for the winter.
