Malus domestica 'Pristine'

This new PRI selection ripens in August, producing large crops of beautiful yellow apples that are crisp and tasty. They are mildly tart and excellent for fresh eating, baking or in applesauce.

The trees are very healthy, highly resistant to apple scab and cedar apple rust and somewhat resistant to powdery mildew and fireblight.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Will Pristine, William's Pride and Honeycrisp work to pollinate one another? Thank you!

No. There is too much of a bloom time gap between Pristine and Honeycrisp. You will need a bloom group 3 (mid season) apple to bridge the gap and provide cross polliantion. William's Pride is a group 1 (early season) bloomer. Refer to the Apple Growing Guide for a full list.

  • What caliper are the fruit trees when shipped?

Usually 1/2"-3/4" caliper at shipping, but your results may vary.

nice

Was wondering why the price is over double compared to another Nursery. I ordered a tree grafted to Antonovka from both nurseries to compare. Raintree sent me a tree that is obviously a year, maybe 2, older than the other Nursery. I'm guessing that's why price is around double. Nice grafting, nice root system. Time will tell but my initial thoughts are that the higher price is okay given your getting an older tree.

Great apple!

Have had this tree for about 8-9 years and it has been fantastic. Great producer, ripening in early August in the puget sound zone 8a. Have had little issue with disease or pests. My only complaint, the large amount of thinning I have had to do...nice problem to have. I do highly recommend a pollinator.

We planted

We planted our trees right away and have been watering. The Pristine has no leaves. The Sansa has leaves coming out on it and seems to be doing great. Not sure what to think about the Pristine ?

Fireblight!

Ordered 6 trees of different varieties, this tree had the best root structure of them all. Upon planting and pruning down to 4 shorted branches. All buds produced leaves and there has been strong growth. Currently 4-6 weeks after planting and one of the 4 branches got firelight mostly on new growth. Immediately cut back the entire branch to the stem. Haven't seen any more signs of fireblight. This is very disconcerting considering the plant is so young and it should have partial resistance. If there is anymore fireblight the tree will probably not survive being cut back to the main stem.
