Bushel and Berry® Raspberry Shortcake® Raspberry

We picked this small berry bush to fit into a planter. Testing it out to see if we want to go "full berry" in the ground, for next year.

I ordered one of these plants for our daughter/granddaughter s garden. They were delighted. The plant arrived in perfect condition and already had blooms. The raspberry arrived in excellent condition. I am planting it inside a 27 gallon storage container(with lots of holes for drainage). It is inside a fence, to keep the deer away from it. It is doing well, going to sleep for the winter.
After watering it (in the container it came in), immediately after arrival, I set it out to dry. Deer ate all the leaves, but it seems to be alive.

I bought these as I don not have space for canes, and the description of these said they were perfect for containers with a mounding habit. However when they arrived, it was very obvious they are or were being trained as canes. Long scraggly growth that still does not look good in my pots a month later. On a recent trip to my local Lowe’s I saw this same Raspberry Shortcake, except it was a beautiful mounding quart size plant! Lesson learned.
