Aronia mitschurinii 'Viking'
This Viking is one cast-iron producer! Incredibly durable plant that sails through wind and weather, offering tons of white flower clusters each spring and those clusters become hundreds of rich, navy berries. Very flavorful and incredibly productive (although not very sweet), its fruit is used for juices, jams, soft drinks and wines. Come fall, the leaves turn into vivid splashes of sienna, carmine and gold, before dropping off to display the graceful form of the remaining slim branches.
A handsome, disease-resistant bush to 8 feet with an equal spread, but easily kept smaller with quick pruning.
