Vitis vinifera 'Aurore'

Prohibited to OR, ID and NY.

Aurore was created by the famed French viticulturist Albert Seibel who named it after the Roman goddess Aurora, who was said to announce the arrival of the sun each morning. Bred as a seeded table grape, it is excellent for fresh eating, but doesn't travel well - making it rare to see at market. Aurore juice is also blended to make fruity sparkling wines popular across Europe.

Aurore grapes ripen early in temperate climates making them a superior selection for Pacific Northwest growers and anyone that wants to grow grapes in a shorter growing season. Naturally resistant to mildew, but susceptible to black rot and botrytis bunch rot. Ripens late September to mid-October in the PNW. Previously known as Seibel 5279. Chill hours: unverified. Cold hardy to USDA zone 5.
