Imperial Epineuse Plum is worthy of its name
There are many European prune plums that produce well and have good flavor. They are called prune plums or prunes because they dry well however they are delicious eaten fresh or used in cooking. The Imperial Epineuse which was developed in France about 1870 excels in flavor. It works in USDA Zones 5-9. It is delicious eaten fresh. Another one to try is Mt. Royal. Unlike the Epineuse which is oval and elongated, Mt. Royal is round. It is tasty and very productive and its proven to thrive even into USDA Zone 4. Another super flavorful prune plum is the Ersinger which is a German prune plum. We suggest you plant a couple of these varieties for best pollinization.
