Chilean Guava (1 Quart Pot / Fall)
(Myrtus ugni molinae) Aromatic red three quarter inch oval shaped, tart fruit with a flavor and aroma like strawberries cover this attractive bush. It is self fertile and can grow to 15 feet in height, 6-8 feet in cooler climates. It is tolerant of trimming and makes an interesting hedge. It is tolerant of maritime climates and prefers a fertile well drained soil and sunny location. It has long thrived outdoors in Southwest England and was a favorite of Queen Victoria. It also makes a nice potted edible greenhouse plant. Leaves are a tea substitute. Also called Eugenia ugni.
