Bisalta #3 Grafted Chestnut
Castenea sativa x crenata 'Bisalta #3'
USDA Prohibits shipping chestnuts to Arizona.
This reliable producer from Italy is a medium, spreading tree with tremendously large nuts - usually 16 per pound! - and it manages to perform even during cooler summers. In hotter summer areas the nuts can overproduce and up to 6 (!) medium-sized nuts can drop to the ground from each bur during the mid-season harvest. Easy to peel and blight-resistant, this pollen sterile variety will need a pollinizer to set nuts.
