Maraval Grafted Chestnut
Castanea sativa x crenata 'Maraval'

This upright, vigorous French grower is one of the best pollinizer varieties for hot summer regions. Mid-to-late season bearing of large (18-22 per pound), good quality nuts that store unusually well. The nuts fall free of the burr and drop to the ground when ripe. The copious, fluffy bloom spikes, which look like creamy pipe cleaners, cover the tree and it makes this variety exceptionally beautiful in early summer. Widely adapted and blight resistant.
