SCHEDULE:

9:15 a.m.- 3 p.m. GRAFTING: Ongoing small groups! Scionwood available.

9:15 a.m. FRUITS FROM AROUND THE WORLD: How to choose the best cultivars offered by Raintree with Sam Benowitz.

9:15 a.m. FOR THE BEGINNER: All the basics to successfully start growing fruit trees and berries in your yard!

10:15 a.m. PLANT PROPAGATION: Raintree staff shows you propagation from seeds, cuttings, layering, budding & grafting.

10:15 a.m. GROWING YOUR OWN MUSHROOMS: Mushroom expert Bill Hulbert will teach you how to grow mushrooms.  11:15 a.m. FRUIT TREE PRUNING: Gary Moulton, formerly from the WSU Mt. Vernon station, explains and demonstrates how to prune all fruits including young and old trees.

12:15 p.m. LUNCH: There are several places in Morton to eat lunch.

1:15 p.m. MASON BEES: Learn all about how to care for them!

1:15 p.m. PESTS AND DISEASES: Learn to control fungus, insects including the new fruit fly, weeds and deer in your fruit garden using ecological methods!

2:15 p.m. GROWING GRAPES & KIWIS: Gary Moulton shares his expertise. Best varieties, rootstocks, growing & training methods.

2:15 p.m.BERRIES-BLUE, BLACK, ELDER, GOOSE, RASP AND STRAW: Learn to prune, train, select and plant them.

3:15 p.m. MAKING HARD CIDER: Hard cider expert Gary Moulton explains how to make top quality hard ciders.

3:15 p.m. GROWING NUT TREES: Learn what to gow and how.

4:45 p.m. HANDS ON PRUNING AND TOP WORKING: (At Raintree)We go out in the field and learn to prune and top-work a large overgrown fruit tree.
