American persimmons are much more winter hardy than Asian Persimmons and can thrive down to USDA Zones 4 and 5. The fruit is usually small, about golf ball size. The fruit, if left on the tree in the autumn until after a frost can be very sweet and delicious. American persimmons can eventually become large trees or can be maintained at 15' or so with pruning.
