A short season brown fig that ripens a large, delicious fall crop and also a lighter over wintering late summer crop. It is a vigorous grower and ripens in most climates including warmer maritime areas that have 2000 or more heat units. This Northwest proven favorite is very similar to the popular Vashon Violet, Magnoilia and Dalmation.

This variety is grown from tissue culture and has been heat-treated to significantly reduce Fig Mosaic Virus.

  • Will this produce fruit on new growth after dying back from the winter?

    Yes, figs will often die back and "reboot" if their root systems do not establish quickly enough. After the roots are large and strong enough you should not experience dieback.

  • Will this tree die back to the ground every year when planted in the ground without protection? We live in N. Idaho (zone 6B) and experience sub-zero temps.

    It may die back a few times while it establishes a strong root system. After that it shouldn't die back if it is kept mulched.
