Beautiful clumping shape Allesoe

I'd love to see more reviews about elderberry plant shape and behavior for landscape use.
Alessoe hás proven to be the longest lived structural clump of my handful of varieties, the others sucker around and rarely keep a main plant for more than a couple of years.

Good for Elderflower Uses

Of the S. nigra plants I have, I would rate the Allesoe flowers as having the best fragrance and therefore good for making elderflower cordial. I can't find any information about what cultivars are used for that purpose commercially or other reviews or nursery descriptions comparing cultivars for that use. Haschberg and Korsor flowers also have good fragrance. Samdal is not as good, and Samyl flowers are almost odorless. Maybe the berries make up for it.

Not dead, so I guess there's that

Very disappointed in the quality of the plant. When it arrived, all of the leaves were pale green-yellow and drooping. I inspected the roots and couldn't identify any problems, so I gave it a good soak for 20 minutes, then transplanted. It's been in moist but not saturated soil with a thick mulch for about nearly two weeks and not looking any better. With luck, though, it will survive. Elderberries tend to be tough as old boots, but I am surprise and disappointed in the quality of the plant. This was my first purchase from Raintree and, I suspect, will be my last.
