Pyrus pyrifolia x 'Tsu Li'

The fruit from this venerable Chinese variety can be large, with an elongated neck like a European pear. The flavor is gently sweet and aromatic. Make sure to leave the fruit on the tree until it is completely ripe to enjoy the delicate and refreshing flavor.

The tree is upright and vigorous. It thrives in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and in other areas with medium-to-long, hot summers, but may not ripen consistently in areas with short or cool summers. Some fireblight resistance. 300 chill hours.

  • How would the Tsu Li Pear do in the Western Washington area, I’m in Fall City by Redmond.

    It seems to do fine in Western WA

  • Based on the Asian Pear Growing Guide, TSU LI ripens late. But, what is the Blooming time? We get late frost (late March- early April) and no matter how good the tree is we never get any fruit (some years we get some). Could you please also add a Blooming Chart for Asian Pears as you do for European Pears? I am looking for a disease resistance mid, mid-late, or late bloomer and having a hard time figuring it out. Some other PNW nurseries list this as an early blooming and I am just confused.

    Asian pears all bloom at roughly the same time, some earlier but they all overlap, so that isn't the problem - the problem is compatibility which can vary from region to region making charts unreliable as a whole. The Asian pears we carry are compatible with each other in the Pacific Northwest.
