Fragaria vesca var. albocarpa

Unlike other Alpines, this variety produces runners and makes an excellent groundcover or container plant in sun or dappled shade. 8" tall plants bear 2 light crops of small, sweet, creamy-white berries; one in late spring and one in late summer.

Native to mountainous regions, it is not the best choice for areas with hot, humid summers.  Sold in 4" pots

USDA Zone: 5-10

Grow Height:  1' or smaller (Groundcover)

Ambitious lil guy

I just got my plant a few weeks ago, it came healthy and already trying to grow a berry! I hardened it off for a few days just to be safe, then planted it in some rich soil. I'm in zone 8a and less than week later it was already working on another berry and had a freshly blooming flower, which is now also growing a berry. This variety seems like it just can't wait to produce, I'm afraid I'll have to trim the berries so it puts more energy into leaves and roots until it's established, but having too many berries is absolutely nothing to complain about.

Incredible taste and great groundcover!

I couldn't believe my tastebuds....and I fully believe that Strawberry flavored candy was inspired by this berry. Out of this world, unique, delectable flavor.
