A very dwarfing apple rootstock similar to EMLA 9 but more hardy. It is hard to Zone 3. Trees can be maintained at 6 to 10' in height. Requires staking. It is a great option for growers with limited space. It is suited for most soil types. It is known to be resistant to collar rot and powdery mildew. 

All rootstocks are roughly 1/4" diameter, approximately pencil-size.

Well Regarded Rootstock

I have three apple trees on Bud9 in western Washington, and all three thrive. If they arrive in good condition, they will perform as expected.

Disappointed

All 3 rootstock spear to be dead. No green under the outer bark. No new growth. I placed them in potting soil and watered them the same day they arrived.
