QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Will a honey crisp pollinate a wolf river?

Yes they cross pollinate each other very well

  • What is the spacing requirement for these? How far apart should they be planted from other apple trees?

Semi-dwarf apples should be planted 16-20 feet on center to allow for full size at maturity.

  • Will wolf river pollinate with Dorset golden?

No, Doerst Golden blooms way too early for Wolf River. Check out our Apple Growing Guide for a pollination primer and charts on bloom time.

  • Will Wolf River pollinate the Cosmic Crisp? Also, is this a good candidate to train espalier?

Yes it will pollinate the Cosmic Crisp and it should train as an espalier just fine.

Wolf River apple

The Wolf arrived in good shape and the roots were healthy. It was going to be the pollinator for my Cosmic Crisp but that snapped off in the heavy snow this winter. Guess I should have had a support stake on it. So now the Wolf is in the ground and waiting for a new buddy.

Wow!

I planted my Wolf River tree two years ago. This tree just exploded in growth; what a big, beautiful apple tree for a semi-dwarf! No fruit yet but if the apples are anything like tree they should be spectacular!

Doing well! No fruit yet but looking forward to this one

Planted it with my other purchases of trees. This one leafed out quickly and seems to be doing great!
