QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Doors this almond variety, or any for that matter, stand a chance growing in zone 9a in south Louisiana? Is humidity the deal breaker? I was hoping that since it's closely related to a peach there would be a variety that might work.

Almonds, even the hybrids, require a dry summer climate to thrive. Nuts like pecans, walnuts, and macedamia nuts all grow well in your area.

  • does the name imply more than one type of almond on the same plant

No, it refers to it being self-fertile, which was uncommon at the time of selection.

Almond Trees in Washington State

Raintree is great! Their employees are great! Their products are great! But I would advise against trying to grow almonds in Washington unless you plan to grow them in a greenhouse. Neither of the almond trees I purchased 2 years ago survived, and I'm still trying to figure out how to keep this new one alive.
