Pyrus communis 'Harrow Delight'

This one is really a "delight" to grow! A heavy setting, medium-size pear with very good flavor and smooth texture, from Ontario, Canada. One of the most precocious Euro pears, regularly starting to bloom and set fruit the year after planting!

Resistant to fireblight, cedar trellis rust AND scab! Late bloom category 3. Fruit ripens in mid season, September here in the PNW. A proven winner at the Mt. Vernon station.

This is the winner in my orchard.

I bought a Harrow pear from Raintree some 30 years ago. Man, has this tree has proved to be a winner. No disease problems, holds up to our cold, snowy winters, and tastes fabulous. My only problem was it grew to 20 feet before I topped it. Hated to do that but I couldn’t prune or harvest at that height. One other thing; this tree outproduces any other pear I have.

Bareroot across country and my tree is not coming to life

I planted my bare root Harrow pear as soon as it arrived and gave it a deep watering each day since. It's been more than 10 days and showing no signs of life. It came packed in wet newspaper and nothing looked broken. Quite concerned that it's not sprouting.

Harrow Delight

Harrow arrived in good shape; the roots were moist and healthy looking. I got it in the ground with a stake and am planning on training it as espellair.
