Emerald is excellent choice for the warmer areas, because the Southern Highbush plants only require 250 chilling hours to produce record-setting quantities of very large blueberries. Attractive bushes need little pruning to maintain good form and moderate size (4'-5' tall and wide). Berries with excellent flavor ripen early (May or June) in the south and California, later (mid-July to early September) in the Northwest.
