Vaccinium corymbosum 'Reka'

Spectacular burgundy color arrives in the fall after bountiful crops of early, medium-size, flavor-packed blueberries on this vigorous, fast-growing variety. Developed in New Zealand, it adapts well to a wide range of northern climates and soil types (as long as the ph is low) and will add both beauty and fabulous food to your landscape. Wonderful flavor fresh or frozen.

Widely adapted and more tolerant of heavy and wet soils than many other varieties. Prefers 800-1000 chill hours to develop its full fruiting potential, which is considerable.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Do you have a Warranty How old are your Reka plants. Shipped

2 years old when shipped. For information on our Arrive Alive warranty please read our shipping policies page.

  • How old are your blueberries that are being shipped in the one gallon size?

    2 years old

  • Hi. I’ve been shopping blueberries. I’m interested in Reka for my home garden on Whidbey Island. All the other dealers I’ve shopped show Reka as zones 3-7. Rain tree shows it suitable for zone 8. Just wondering how or why that can be. Bottom line, is it suitable for zone 8 or not? Thanks. Bruce Fee Coupeville

The upper limits of the USDA zone listings are mostly about chilling hours (but aren't very accurate). Reka will be fine on Whidbey Island.
