Summercrisp Pear
Pyrus communis 'Summercrisp'
Summercrisp is a new cold-hardy, early-season pear released by the University of Minnesota for our cold climates growers! Summercrisp grows where most pear cultivars survive poorly and often fail to fruit. This cultivar’s name comes from its early harvest season and the fact that, unlike most summer pears, the fruit is best consumed without having been ripened for several days after picking with an eating quality that is highest while the flesh is firm and crisp. The fruits themselves are showy chartreuse pears with a red blush, which bear in abundance in late summer.
