Prunus persica var. nucipersica x 'Spice Zee'

Spice Zee is the first member of the NectaPlum™ family of fruits. NectaPlum™ is a novel catagory of interspecific cultivars, developed by the late, great breeding genius Floyd Zaiger, that is approximately 1/2 nectarine, 1/4 peach and 1/4 Asian plum. It truly tastes like a delicious cross between a plum and a nectarine, getting rave reviews wherever it is grown. Spice Zee is a great choice for the home gardener, with freestone fruit offering a deep, complex aroma and flavor -  pleasantly tangy, yet loaded with sugar. It's also a beautiful ornamental addition to your landscape with a tremendous purplish-pink spring bloom followed by dark RED leaves in the spring that mature to a rich green-red in late summer.

This variety is self-fruitful, very productive, and low chill - needing only 200-300 hours to bloom successfully. Not likely to fully ripen in cool summer areas. US Patent 13503.

Ask a Question

Yes, Spice Zee is considered a freestone fruit.

  • I had an issue of curly leaves on SpiceZee last year. How do I deal with it. Thank you

I highly recommend doing research on Leaf Curl. Our Peach Growing Guide goes over this common issue and methods for management.

  • What is the difference between 10" sleeve and semi-dwarf?

The plant in the 10 inch sleeve is younger and smaller than the 4'-5' bare root whip previously available.

No, like many complex cross hybrids these trees are not bred for disease resistance.
