Prunus persica var. nucipersica x 'Spice Zee'

Spice Zee is the first member of the NectaPlum™ family of fruits. NectaPlum™ is a novel catagory of interspecific cultivars, developed by the late, great breeding genius Floyd Zaiger, that is approximately 1/2 nectarine, 1/4 peach and 1/4 Asian plum. It truly tastes like a delicious cross between a plum and a nectarine, getting rave reviews wherever it is grown. Spice Zee is a great choice for the home gardener, with fruit offering a deep, complex aroma and flavor -  pleasantly tangy, yet loaded with sugar. It's also a beautiful ornamental addition to your landscape with a tremendous purplish-pink spring bloom followed by dark RED leaves in the spring that mature to a rich green-red in late summer.

This variety is self-fruitful, very productive, and low chill - needing only 200-300 hours to bloom successfully. Not likely to fully ripen in cool summer areas. US Patent 13503.

Beautiful tree

Bare root tree arrived on time and in great shape. Within a week it was showing life, including some flower buds. I'm very impressed!

Vigorous grower on Viking root-stock.

Having tasted nectaplum in California I purchased this tree in 10" sleeve to see if it can survive PLC in PNW with minimal spray protocol. Received the tree well packaged without any damaged, planted it in a 15 gallon pot on 7/28 (see Picture 1). This tree has grown like weed in just 2 months (Picture 2), I had read Viking root stock was vigorous its amazing to see its capability. I see a few fruit buds and hoping it will set one or two fruit next year. Minus one star for poor communication and 2 weeks delay in shipping this tree out (excluding one week when it was hot and not conducible for shipping young trees).
