Ficus carica 'Violette de Bordeaux'

Also known as Bordeaux and Negronne. The very productive tree/bush can produce two crops of purple/black figs with rich, raspberry-colored flesh. Very good in quality with a concentrated texture and deeply sweet flavor. For short-season and cool summer growers, this is the variety to grow for a Mission-style fig experience.

As a member of the breba category of fig, it can produce 2 crops in warm regions. Produces one crop on last years' wood and another on new growth. Very well-suited to growing in pots. Disease and pest resistant. Very similar to Petite Negri but slightly later to ripen. This variety is grown from tissue culture and has been heat-treated to significantly reduce the presence of Fig Mosaic Virus.

Well packed, came on time

The fig plant came well packed today, but it was a bit disappointing looking. The main stem (which does look to be still alive) had zero growth with three spindly looking sucker growth off the base. I have ordered figs in the past (not from rain tree) and have received a start with growth developed off that main stem cutting. I’m just going to have to hope that the main stem eventually sprouts and I can do away with this sad sucker growth off the base. From reading the reviews, this was not the quality of fig start that I was expecting.

Beautiful Violette de Bordeaux Fig

Violette de Bordeaux Figs arrived a bit exhausted. They spent 6-days in transit due to a weekend being involved and were definitely dehydrated out of the box. Into the ground and some water made them perk right up. They are looking great the first week and expect them to make some delicious fruit for years to come.

Super fast growth, good figs also

Really nice plant received in the early spring, this fig taste great with a dark berry fig and skin. Rapid growth rate and super easy to air layer.

Violette de Bordeaux Fig

I ordered this fig and it arrived in perfect condition. Packing was perfect and not a blemish anywhere. I'd recommend Raintree Nursery to anyone.

Nice looking little tree

The tree was healthy except the top half came broken off (I'm trying to root it). Otherwise it is off to a good start in a bigger pot. My climate (zone 6 Kansas) just does not permit figs to remain alive above ground even inside a high tunnel and wrapped in burlap for winter. So I'm going to keep this one in a pot and bring it into the garage in the winter. I'm determined to have figs and Raintree has been my only nursery for many years. Their plants are the best.

Looks great

First time ordering form RN. This fig came very well packaged and is growing great. Very nice look plant. Will be ordering from them again next year. This fig in particular was almost half price of the place I normally order from.

Perfect little fig trees

I received both trees in perfect condition. I have moved them to larger pots and hopefully they will thrive in their new places. Thanks.

Garden treasure

Finally got a first fruit from this fig, such rich fig flavor & very sweet. The very divided maple like leaves make it an attractive tree outside fruiting periods.
