Malus domestica 'Dayton'

Among the very best Purdue selections. The brilliant red fruit is crisp, juicy, sweet-tart, and very flavorful. The tree is very productive with an upright form and strong branch angles.

It is immune to scab and resistant to mildew, fireblight, and cedar rust. The large, beautiful fruit ripens in late September.

  • Is this Dayton more sweet than tart? We are looking for somewhat tart too.

    It is more sweet than tart, but definately has a sub-acid (tart) profile.

Great bare root tree

Just received my bare root dwarf Dayton apple tree.
I let it soak in a bucket of water for 24 hours, as directed to. Today I planted it. If it does as well as the Akane apple tree that I bought from Raintree Nursery in the fall of 2023, then it will do great things for me.
I highly recommend Raintree Nursery for all your gardening needs.
