Newtown Pippin Apple

I give the tree. 4 out of 5. Got it in the ground last weekend. The roots looked healthy and arrived damp. Looking forward to see it break dormancy.

However, from a customer experience standpoint Raintree fell short in comparison to its competitors. A day after I ordered my tree the site started a bug 1 get 1 promotion. I asked if I could be a part of it. It’s took 24hours for them to respond and the answer was that nothing could be done but I could cancel my open order and start over. By the time I looked the other tree I was interested in had sold out. I had a similar situation occur with a competitor and they immediately allowed me to participate in the deal and give me the sale price I had missed by 48 hours. If you are looking for good service I would go to Stark Brothers. Based on this I hope I have no issues with the tree cause I’m concerned how this company will stand behind their trees.

The Rubineete I received bloomed copiously and even may have an apple; the Ashmead Kernel also has only few flowers but living. The second year Releika also has two apples; it suffered as the Spartan and Famouse the late freeze which ended all fruit tree blossom. But it produced afloret of flower and another individual . It may have been pollinated by the new Rubinette.
However the Everest Crab after loosing its bloom flowered again ., It is remontent and may have pollinated my new apples .

The only unhappy story is the Albamarle Pippin. It is the latest introduction . It has not shown green . The root system was voluminous . But there is no green or sign of growth. I hope it is too early to judge it . But compares poorly with the earlier SPring apples . Karmiyn is reluctant but has prodiced leaves .

I received notice in mid -April that our Newtown Pippin was shipping and it arrived about a week later by UPS. This was earlier than expected but we’d had a warm spell. Cost of tree with shipping was $78. Everything was in good order, the box was undamaged, and the roots were wrapped, protected, and protected with shredded and wet cardboard. We were ready for it and planted it the same day. I think the tree was was supposed to be anywhere between 4-5’. I measured the planted tree at 44” so a little short but pretty close. It was nicely trimmed and has a really good form. We protected it with chicken wire fencing and are hopeful it might bloom this year as it is still dormant and the buds don’t look close to opening yet. We think the planting site is good and look forward to the apples.

I never received my order. I spent nearly $365 on 5 trees with nearly $80 in shipping. With no signature required for delivery I have no idea where the packaged was delivered but I was home on day they say it was delivered. Raintree has not communicated any remedy even though they say delivery of live trees is guaranteed.
