Pixie Cot Apricot

My pixie-cot apricot tree arrived as scheduled. It was a long stick with 2 tiny branches, one was broken. I planted it immediately in a large planter bag because the weather was still cold and rainy and I had not finished preparing it's permanent home. It is still has no more growth or leaves but it passed the scratch test. I look forward to seeing it spread and leaf out a bit this summer.

The Tree is still dormant with this cold weather, but I followed your instructions and hopefully the tree will blossom soon. The Packaging was done well and there wa no damage during transit.

I ordered 6 trees - two Pixi Cots and four dwarf/mini dwarf apples (Bella, Early Pink Lady, Cox, Cosmic Crisp). They arrived in great shape for bare root stock at the spring equinox and are in the ground following Laura's video instructions. I will be checking every day for signs that they are budding out. My order from last year of Cascade Delight Raspberries are leafing out now and looking good to go this year.

I m growing my pixie cot apricot in a high tunnel hoop house, so it is protected from harsh cold winter rains. That said, it s a remarkably pretty little tree, that really appears to be naturally dwarf. It a healthy grower, but seems to stay around the 5-foot level for now. The apricots are crazy sweet and mine were a very pale yellow. I had a mishap in the hoop house where a board fell on the tree and cracked in it in half. I cut off the major breakage and it rebounded nicely. I ll report back in a year or two when it s hit its full stride.

I want to love this tree, but so far, after being planted in the ground for a month and carefully taken care of, still not one hint of buds or leafing. It’s just a tall, brown stick. It’s still green to the scratch test, so it’s not dead. I’m just frustrated it hadn’t broken dormancy yet. Hopefully, it will wake up and start growing soon.
