Veteran Peach
Prunus persica 'Veteran'
A 1928 Canadian cross of Early Elberta, Veteran is the most cold-hardy peach we offer. The sturdy, late, pale pink blossoms are resistant to frost damage, even in full flower! This vigorous, self fertile tree has been grown for years in the Pacific Northwest, (by those willing to spray for peach leaf curl), and the colder parts of our nation. You'll enjoy abundant and reliable harvests of medium-to-large, yellow fruits graced with a soft red blush. The yellow, freestone flesh is somewhat coarse and easy to peel, making it particularly good for canning, drying and freezing. Veteran is one of our best all-around peaches!
Requires 900-1000 chill hours between 32F - 45F to bloom and fruit regularly.
