The white flower buds which emerge in late summer are used for tempurah or sliced and added as a garnish for salads or sushi. This plant is unlike the ginger that you eat the large rhizomes. Hardy to USDA Zones 7-10. Prefers partial shade and well drained soil with plenty of humus.
