Vaccinium ovatum 'Scarlet Ovation'

This gorgeous edible ornamental is a naturally dwarfing selection of the native Evergreen huckleberry chosen for its flashy bronze-red spring growth that turns to dark green in summer and its carefree compact habit. Also enjoy the flavorful dark blue huckleberries each August. It is a small shrub 2'-3' tall and wide and is beautiful in mass plantings. Can also be used and sheared like miniature boxwood!

    Yes, they are identical to evergreen huckleberry fruits, just a different leaf color.

I received the plant the first part of june. They were very dry when they got here. I watered them immediately and I quickly planted them in pots. Ive babied them along all summer but 9nly 1 survived and he's looking pretty sad. I don't believe that he will make it through the winter. I'm writing this review because I missed the 30 day cut off. I had surgery and didn't get back in the garden until now. My husband has watered them but they still didn't make it.

Rootbound and dead

Arrived dry and totally rootbound. I put it in a pot with blueberry specific potting mix, and tried to resurrect it per their advice but the plant died within the month. They said they could not offer their guarantee on potted plants. I am unlikely to order from them again.

Fantastic service

Ordered three scarlet huckleberries and two salmon berries. Everything came smartly and professionally packaged. Very happy with the experience. One salmon berry sprung to life with leaves showing a few days in. The other is taking its time but hopefully ready to start doing its thing in the next week. The roots on all plants are fantastic.

Perfect and healthy!

Bushes arrived promptly per the spring shipping schedule! Everything was packaged so carefully, there was no damage to the plants and I was able to get them straight into the ground. Within a couple weeks of planting all bushes started blooming and a small batch of berries are starting to develop. Looking forward to watch these grow!

Produced Fruit in Second Year!

I have had this particular plant for two years, along with an existing established huckleberry (which I think is another Scarlet Ovation). This year they both produced sweet, small huckleberries that were very easy to pick. Thank you, Raintree!!
