  • The description states that Freckle Face is self fruitful. Is it more fruitful when planted with another nectarine, if so any idea of how much more fruit production? What other nectarine varieties would be good to pair with Freckle Face? Location is Portland Oregon.

    It has been shown to produce more fruit with another nectarine, not sure how much more though. A great partner for it is Kreibich, since it has some curl resistance.

Freckle Face is Amazing!

I first tried Freckle Face at Andy’s Orchard in Morgan Hills, California and was really impressed by its sweetness and acidic tang. I’m so happy to have a tree of my own here in Utah. It’s so remarkable that it’s worth dealing with a clingstone. My tree just arrived about week ago and is taking off already. Don’t forget to prune the new trees back when they arrive Ang get them in the ground ASAP.

I also recommend Maria’s Gold nectarine as a companion tree. My MG produced about two dozen wonderful freestone nectarines last year (in only its second year in the ground). Both are unique and starkly different. MG is a freestone that dries and cans well, and is uniquely delicious. These smaller nectarines look like large, smooth apricots and even have a tiny hint of apricot.

I have been really impressed by the quality of trees from Raintree Nursery, and the single issue I had of a dozen trees in three years was resolved by them very much to my satisfaction.

Tree is a little smaller than i was expecting, but the root mass was truly impressive. I think this little guy is going to grow alot this year. Great healthy start, thanks raintree crew
