Prunus persica var. nectarina 'Hardired'

Top rated for growers west of the Cascades, this Harrow, Ontario selection ripens early - even in cooler summers - and will excel throughout USDA Zones 5-9. It needs chill hours of 800 or better to fruit. It bears large quantities of red, sweet, tasty, yellow-fleshed fruit in early August.

The tree is attractive and spreading in habit, tolerant of bacterial spot and brown rot, and covered each spring with large, showy pink flowers.

Very sad

My two favorite Nectarine trees (Hardired) started to leaf out beautifully and I thought this will be wonderful! Then two months later, with the rains in the Maritime Pacfic Northwest, the trees started turning brown and lost all of their leaves. Yesterday I wanted to test its viability and the branch snapped off. I am a skilled, Master gardener growing 76 fruit trees starting from babies....many of them bought from here, including Hardired Nectarines, so I know what I am doing. By this time, it is too late to get a refund, or another order of my favorite nectarine, so I feel very sad. Sadly, I will try another company this next season.

growing, leafing out, seems resistant to rust

Got my 2 nectarine bare roots, soaked them overnight, planted in oversized pots, leafed out well, growing, a couple of branches were damaged in transport, prunes 3 dead branches.
