Vaccinium corymbosum 'Top Shelf'

Top Shelf blueberry is notable for its large, full-flavored fruit and strong plant structure. It has performed consistently in trials conducted in both Low and High Chill regions, with superior yields and fruit size compared to Draper. In Europe, its exceptional quality has drawn the attention of many marketers. Pruning is easy and high yields can be achieved at a young stage due to its large fruit size.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Hello I apologize for how ignorant this question may be but I am attempting to purchase blueberry "seedlings" for a friend as a gift. I am unclear on the differences between seeds vs. seedlings or seedlings vs. plants. Can you please share a little information to ensure I am making the right order? Appreciate the help in advance.

A "seedling" is a common term for a small plant, as opposed to a "sapling" which is older, regardless if it is grown from seed or not. When grown from seed many plants show characteristics from of both the parent plants, much like anything else does (plants, animals, etc.), so to maintain a "true" variety propagation is done via grafting, or using cuttings to functionally clone the plant. For this reason, blueberries are propagated via cuttings to ensure the plant maintains the qualities that have been selected for. The blueberries we carry are often in the 2-year old range, which would make them seedlings for the purposes of your project. Everyone starts learning at the beginning, we hope this helps!

Great looking plants

The Top Shelf Blueberries arrived and looked great. It's too early to tell how they will produce, but I plan on ordering more when they are back in stock.
