Prunus x 'Flavor Supreme'

The name says it all - the firm, crunchy texture and superb flavor of this plum/apricot interspecific cross is the tops! Also called Dinosaur Egg, due to its mottled green exterior that contrasts so vividly with the deep maroon flesh. A taste test winner!

From the fields of the famous Floyd Zeiger. Will require an Asian plum as a pollinizer. Needs approx 700-800 chill hours to reliably set fruit. Blooms early, so best for areas with reliably mild spring weather.

USDA Zone: 5-9

Mature Height:  15'

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: Midsummer

Pollination: Needs a Pollinizer like Toka, Beauty, Shiro

Rootstock: Myro 29C

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Is this considered a reliable variety for a PNW climate?

No, they do much better in Eastern, WA where there is a hotter and longer growing season. The tree will grow, the fruit however may not mature.

  • IS FLAVOR SUPREME OR ANY PLUOTS BLACK KNOT RESISTENT

No. The only plum that is reliably resistant to black knot is President.

My sweet little Supreme Pluot arrived in great

My sweet little Supreme Pluot arrived in great condition. I opened the box to see if the roots were in good condition. Yes, there were wrapped in a very moist paper fabric in a plastic bag. They look healthy. I planted it the next day. It has evenly balanced branches and the flower buds are just about to pop. Two days later the buds have started to open. Looking forward to the first taste.

Not What I Had Hoped

I have high regard for Raintree Nursery, but the specimen I received was a whip laced to a bamboo support with no lateral branches except for one ~4" from the top that was approximately 2 1/2" long and didn't look healthy. The roots had been clipped hard and were basically on one side. The Pixiecot we received a couple of months ago was so much better. Fingers crossed that this one will succeed.
