A stunning red-leafed plum that is both beautiful and productive! It is an upright, vigorous tree with attractive, flavorful, round, pinkish-orange fruit with yellow flesh.

Developed by Elwyn Meader of New Hampshire, it is disease resistant, very winter hardy, and easy to grow. Ripens in late July. It needs an Asian plum as a pollinizer.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • A few years ago I planted an Asian Elephants Heart plum and a Catalina European plum and didn't know they won't cross pollinate. At the time I thought my 4 way cherry tree and peach tree would all be cross fertile with the plum trees. Is there a strain of hybrid plum that would pollinate both types or am I going to have to go for a two way grafted plum tree, maybe grafting compatible scions to each of my trees or will the cherries and peach/nectarines get the job done? Thanks, Brian

Typically you will need to match species to species to ensure cross pollination in natural environments (in case of asian plums the species is 'salicina' and the genus is 'prunus'). There are no cherry or peach cultivars, hybrid or otherwise, that will provide pollination for asian plums.

  • Can this plum tree cross pollinate with a Bubble gum plum tree?

Bubble gum, which we carry as Toka, does cross pollinate with this variety just fine!

  • What is the bossom color?

    White and pink

  • Can Cocheco be pollinated bob Hollywood plum tree?

    Absolutey yes!

  • Would the Hollywood Asian Plum be a good pollinator for this tree?

Yes, all of our Asian plums cross pollinate each other.

Great healthy tree!

We bought a selection of plums and apricots from Raintree last year, and all the plants arrived looking SUPER healthy and vigorous. All plants put on a ton of stem growth last year and survived the winter this year with no problems and no special care. No fruit yet, because it s only their second year, but we did actually get a few blooms this year! (We pulled them off so as not to weaken the tree too soon.)
