Along with Desert King the best bet for cool summer areas. This newly available fig was found in Olympia Washington and regularly ripens a sizeable crop in an August and often a fall crop in cool summer areas where others fail. Brought to us by Denny McGaughy this red/purple skinned, red fleshed fig has been long awaited.

This variety is grown from tissue culture and has been heat-treated to significantly reduce the presence of Fig Mosaic Virus.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Hi, considering ordering this to start. Is it a stalk, or comes in a gallon pot?

Our figs all come in gallon pots

  • You say that the fig tree is a tissue culture, does that mean that it is very thin? Do you have to babysit for 2or3 years.

The trees themselves are sold at 18"-24", not as fresh little sprouts.

Great little fig

The fig arrived in great shape. I was pleasantly surprised by how big it is. Definitely larger than I was expecting. The packaging was sturdy and secure. Will definitely be getting more plants from Raintree in the future.

Olympian fig

The Olympian fig seemed to have more top yellowing on the top leaf. My Chicago Hardy arrived with it and all leaves were green and it seemed healthy. Both figs were rootbound and dry, but I tried to sort the roots out upon planting. I ordered them the last part of July, but they didn't arrive until October. Time in the pot they became rootbound I'm supposing. I hope they make it. I ordered a black mission earlier in the season and it came right away and was not rootbound and is doing fine.
