Psidium cattleianum var. littorale 'Lemon'

Lemon "strawberry" guava can help you bring the taste of the tropics indoors! This native Brazillian bush can be widely grown as a potted indoor/outdoor shrub that produces regular yields of crispy, tart and aromatic 1"- 2" inch round yellow fruit with a sweet and juicy pulp! Unlike regular subtropical guavas of the Acca family, the Pisidium "strawberry guava" has small, leathery evergreen leaves of a lovely, shiny medium green.

Lemon guava is cold hardy to 23 degrees F, so plan to grow in a pot and bring indoors in colder zones. When planted in-ground it becomes a sturdy, self-fertile 10-15 foot shrub or small tree. These seedlings are reliably self-fertile but planting more than 1 can increase yields.

Cold Hardy to USDA Zone: 10

Mature Height:  10'-15'

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: August

Pollination: Self Fertile

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Does it do well with container culture? Can it fruit indoors?

It can do well, but it will need humdity and you will need a grow light or it will suffer dramatically. It can fruit with pollination, either manual or via insects if you leave it outside in the warmer months of the year.

Another Great Guava

I received this Lemon Guava and was thrilled with how lovely it was and how carefully packed it was. I'm hoping it survives this crazy PNW winter this year.

Really nice plant

I've had good luck with all my Raintree plants so far, but the lemon guava was really exceptionally nice on arrival. Super healthy, lots of growth. It was a very big plant for the pot size, I was so impressed. Looking forward to getting fruit!
