Combo Mirabelle Plum (4 Varieties)

So… I received and planted the bareroot mirabelle combo tree in the fall of 2022. It has grown well in the last 4 years, reaching approx 12ft height as of summer 2026. In 2023 I noticed significant trunk rot at insertion of the second graft, but removing rotting material and applying fungicide seems to have stopped the damage from progressing. All 4 grafts are still alive, but the second one is weak as it’s in the damaged area. Unsurprisingly, no fruit on that one yet, which is labeled “combo mirabelle plum” so I don’t know the variety. The lowest graft and third graft (from bottom) bear multiple mirabelle fruits this year, and are labelled “Perfume de Sept” and “mirabelle de Nancy” respectively. The topmost graft is NOT a mirabelle. It is labeled “Mirabelle de Metz” but produces blue/purple classic oblong plums that taste like regular plums. All in all, this tree had damage in one grafted area and so far bears 2 out of 4 advertised mirabelle varieties. We’ll see if the weak mystery graft bears fruit in upcoming years….

I really am surprised with the quality of your products. Came in wrapped with wet soil. The root system was huge and healthy. The 4 way marabelle plum tree. Perfection at its best!!

Grafted mostly on one side. It will grow unevenly. But it is in good shape. Keeping it indoors due to weather turning cold and don’t want to kill it.

The tree was well packaged and arrived in good condition. Some buds were already opening. Having sampled the fruit in France I was determined to get some way of having it again since it is not exported to the US. Will see if it bears fruit in the future

My Maribelle combo tree arrived as advertised. Trunk is straight as an arrow. Still dormant with no leaves yet but it appears healthy. Hoping for lots of plums in a few years.

I was looking for a Mirabelle for years. When I finally found them I had difficult choice between varieties. Raintree is the only nursery that provides all of them AND a multi grafted option so you can try several kinds. My tree arrived very healthy and is still growing. It's flowering heavily this spring.

This is not a little whip of a tree. Sturdy and well put together. It is already pushing out leaves. Will severely limit fruit this year so that it can concentrate on growing its root system. Very happy

The short -- Planted this tree Spring of 2022. Very heavy crop on all grafts in summer 2024 and had to thin it out several times. Absolutely delicious.

The long--
Planted the three in a 3ft hole with a mound in the center. I used a pitch fork to break up the edges and stab into the sides of holes (This ensures not a clean solid barrier and prevents root wrapping. Mixed native soil with peat moss and old compost. Soaked roots for 24 hours prior and kept it in water while planting. When I planted I put mycos directly on roots. Use 2 inches+ of mulch in a 3 ft circle around base. I watered consistently and heavily for the first 2 years and nothing this year.

I let the tree grow without pruning for the first 2 years. I also did not allow any fruit for the first 2 years. 3rd year tons of fruit. The tree has fairly even distributed grafts -- just make sure you prune them to prevent one from taking over completely.

Very happy with this tree. Just keep in mind a combo tree takes just a bit more thought and attention when pruning.

Pre-ordered the 4-1 Mirabelle tree months ago and was excited. While the tree has a good size 3 of the varieties are facing the same direction grafted above each other. Not really a good setup to start a new combo tree.

It arrived as promised and undamaged. We soaked it overnight. And planted the next day as per your instructions. Watered it in and now waiting for it to break dormancy. I thumbnailed one of the branches and it was a pale green. I am hoping it will leaf out soon.

The tree has only been in the ground a week, and with weather cooler than normal, it's not showing any greening as yet. It is certainly alive. I pruned very lightly after planting, and the wood is alive and seems healthy. These 4 different mirabelles are grafted onto a thick, sturdy trunk, much bigger than I expected. Each scion is neatly labeled as to the variety. The root system, though not large, also looks healthy. I have high hopes this will be the crown jewel of my orchard.

Starting to bud out,maybe center leader 1” dia.should be capped? Afraid it will rot. Looks too big to grow over,
