The Crimson Passion® Cherry is a compact shrub that can reach a height of 5-8 feet, making it perfect for smaller areas and container gardening. Its dark red fruits are both sweet and slightly tart, and are known for their rich flavor. They ripen in early August and are great for eating fresh or using in various food preparations. Furthermore, these cherries are self-fertile and able to withstand very low temperatures, as low as -50°F. This variety is a hybrid of the tart cherry and Mongolian cherry, resulting in a high sugar content and large, dark red fruit. While it can self-pollinate, production is enhanced when planted near a pollinator.
