QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • What blackberries would you recommend for a plot that gets down to 10 degrees in the winter, has frosts/snow sometimes in late April, and (sadly) gets over 100 degrees a few days every summer? I have a 30% shade cloth that I use for the hottest days in the summer. As a point of reference, my tayberries do fairly well.

All of the blackberries in this bundle will tolerate the conditions you listed. You must be in zone 5b or 6a, and all of these will do well and thrive in the warm weather.

  • When is the best time to plant big daddy blackberries plants? Can the be planted in the fall?

They sure can! Fall is just fine provided you do NOT fertilize them.

  • Are there any blackberries that will grow in zone 5, morning shade, afternoon sun, 80- 95 degrees heat mid summer? Or in morning sun and afternoon shade? I live in Colorado, 5800'. I have only two places to plant them, and coming recently from the PNW, I really miss my berries!!

Yes, this one in fact! Any blackberry hardy to zone 5 should do fine in that environment. You may choose to mulch it thick for winter just in case.
