Lonicera caerulea 'Blue Pagoda'™

Another exceptionally hardy Japanese import, this late-blooming honeyberry has an unusual teardrop shape to the fruits. Growing into a larger bush of 4'-5' tall and wide, enjoy the hundreds of dainty, trumpet-shaped, icy yellow blooms in late spring, and then devour the rich, juicy berries when they are "blue through and through" for best flavor.

Blue Pagoda™ needs a late-blooming pollinizer, like Blue Hokkaido™, Blue Velvet, Blue Moon, or Blue Pacific, and will produce reliably in the Pacific Northwest in mid-late May. This attractive, disease and pest-resistant, upright bush grows quickly to about 4'-5' tall and wide. Plants prefer full sun in cooler climates, and partial shade in warmer locations, and well-drained soil. Little pruning is required: just remove overlapping branches. USDA Zones 2-8.

Size: 1-2' Plant

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Since I live in Montana, do you know when this bush would produce berries? I see production in the northwest is late May, but that would not be the case for here.

With another hardy pollinizer from cross pollination you should be fine. :)

Unsuccessful honey berry :(

Arrived bare root, and 1 out of 2 branches were dead. Once out of the packaging the second branch started to leaf two tiny leaves. But, they fell off a couple of days after planting and there is no sign of life a few weeks later. Pretty sure it did not survive. My other honey berries planted last year (from a different distributor) are thriving.
