Chaenomeles speciosa 'Cameo'

This delicate-looking beauty is grown for its lovely soft apricot and pink-colored double flowers that cover the bush in early spring. It produces an abundance of small quinces prized for jelly when pollinized by another flowering quince. It is thornless and compact, reaching a height and spread of about 4 feet.

Japanese flowering quinces are a group of very winter hardy, disease resistant, deciduous shrubs covered with an abundance of beautiful flowers early each spring. The varieties we offer each follow up with a small crop of nutritious fruit with a pineapple and citrus flavor that can be used to make jellies or syrups. This is a great group of edible ornamentals. For heavier yields, plant more than one variety.

  • What is your suggested pollinizer for the Cameo quince? Will planting two Cameos work?

    No, they are grafted clones, but that said they also aren't grown for their fruit. It's small and poorly flavored, but is sometimes used to make wine

Absolutely beautiful flowering bush

I have bought Cameo flowering quince a few years ago. Every early spring the bush is covered with beautiful soft pink double flowers, they look like small roses. The bush is compact, with many branches, no thorns. The foliage is light green and shiny. The whole bush is beautiful, even after flowering ends. This year it fruited for the first time, there were a couple of small light green quinces. I expect it to increase fruit production with time.
I have another flowering quince - Super Fusion for cross- pollination. That one has more and larger fruit, has dark red single flowers, dark green foliage and large thorns.
The fruit of these quinces are very sour, but I added them to applesauce and to fig jam and it made the jam much tastier.
