QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Can these trees be espaliered as a fan where each variety is treated as a cordon?

Almost any tree can be forced onto a fence espalier, but these get grafted on each side of the tree so 2 o them will be facing the wrong way intially, you'll need to slowly train it into the fan.

  • Can this be planted in a big container? What size would be ideal?

Yes, the largest you can manage. It will need planted on the ground eventually though. 27 dry gallons is a half wine barrel.

  • For the 4 in 1 Asian pear tree, are you guaranteed 4 different varieties?

Yes you will get 4 different ones.

  • The hardy to USDA zone of this tree is only in Zone 5 as in the description. Does it means I cannot plant it in Zone 6?

USDA Zone refers to the coldest temperature a plant can survive. This plant is hardy to zone 5, and any zone higher than that. So yes, it will be fine in zone 6.

  • How wide does it get?

    Rough 15' wide

Nice!

This is my second Asian pear from raintree nursery. I love them! This sapling came at the right time to plant, healthy, well pruned and varieties clearly marked.

Died in the second year

Good for a year then dead for fire blight. Not the nursery issue, I guess it is just the problem of the variety not friendly for new grower.

Many branched Asian Pear

Seems to be well branched with some budding starting. Some tags don’t show fruit type so it will be a surprise. Used IV Organic on it. Planted it right away. Have clay soil so dug wide hole and amended soil and drainage. Would like to have info on watering schedule for clay zone 7.
