QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How much space should we give this tree when planting?

This tree should be given 8+ feet on either side of the planting hole. If planting multiple trees of this kind that would be 16 feet apart.

  • Do we need to have two trees for pollination, or are these trees self pollinating?

These variaties will all pollinate each other, making this tree functionally self fertile.

Started blossoming right away!

Planted this in April, and it grew leaves and blossomed right away! The branches were very thin, but now mid July, the whole tree is taller and branches thickened up. I have good hopes for this tree. Tags tell me which apples will grow on each branch.

Good sized and very healthy appearance...

My Heritage Combo Apple Tree arrived and went in the ground at the end of March, and all four varieties have begun to leaf out. The Johnny Apple Seed and Newtown Pippin first, followed closely by the Arkansas Black...the Roxybury Russet was about a week behind the others, but all are now growing well.

Heritage Apple for a Historic House

Our heirloom multi-graft heritage apple tree included a Roxbury Russet, a Johnny Appleseed apple, and other grafts representing the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The well shaped tree is now a central focal point of a heirloom orchard at the Historic Winslow House in Marshfield, MA. Thank you for the exceptional multi-graft apple tree.

Beautiful tree!

This is the umpteen time that I’ve bought from Raintree Nursery, and each time, I’m so impressed with the quality of the plants I receive. The combo apple tree that had just arrived is absolutely healthy and beautiful. Thank you Raintree for sending the combo that I was hoping for! The tree was so carefully packed that nothing got broken. It’s now sitting in soil and I just can’t wait to see it flower.

I also want to say thank you for all your planting videos and guides. They’re so useful to new gardeners like myself! ????
