Ordered 6 trees, 4 apple, 2 Pear. This pear had significantly smaller root structure and some damage during shipping/packing with the other trees. Roughly speaking it had about half the roots of the other trees, and a large main section was snapped upon unboxing. All the trees were pruned back to 4 shortened branches and a shortened main stem. All 4 apples took with strong growth. Both pear trees seem stunted, our other warren pear has some minimal growth compared to the apples but is doing well and healthy. Our Comice pear is unlikely to survive, there has been no new growth and most of the leaves are shriveling up and falling off. I regret not taking a picture of the root stock, at the time I figured it was normal yet very visibly worse condition than the other trees we received. This will likely put me a year behind as the tree is unable to survive the long summer days with such a damaged roots.
Raintree's guarantee is that the tree will produce leaves not that it will survives... Well our tree had just enough life to produce leaves but unable to actually survive the longer summer days with such small roots. I will hopefully update this review if our tree manages to survive the summer. I can only hope that despite the leaves, some roots are growing and it can recover.
