Morus alba or bombycis 'Unryu'

The contorted mulberry is an incredibly beautiful landscape focal point. This Japanese tree features a gnarled trunk and branches. It offers a scattering of small, tasty, purple fruit under the shiny, medium-green leaves, which turn an attractive yellow during fall. Once the leaves drop, the curled and wavy growth pattern of the trunk and branches is revealed. It has the potential to grow to 30' in time, but is easily kept at 9'-15' with regular pruning.

Unryu in Japanese means twisted or contorted. Some confusion currently exists regarding the proper botanical name for this plant.

Not a female contorted mulberry

Bought one about 3 years ago and it's growing great and looks good but it's only put out male flowers never fruit! When I contacted them I got the run around and never got any answers. Long story short I'm going to let it grow but now I have an ornamental with no fruit production.

Contorted Mulberry Eaten by Deer First Night

Disappointing that Raintree didn't warn me. Too bad. Out of luck.
