Dolgo Crabapple

I wanted a pollinator for my Fuji apple tree but didn't have a ton of room, so I got this dwarf Dolgo. I was mightily impressed with the tree Raintree sent me. It arrived in mid-April and was just coming out of dormancy. (It's funny how some reviewers don't understand the idea of dormancy -- your tree might not have leaves but that doesn't mean it's dead!) The tree had an impressive, healthy root structure and a beautiful round shape. It clearly had been professionally and carefully pruned.

A week after planting the leaves are budding on all the branches. It's clearly a happy, healthy tree. My Fuji came out of dormancy a few weeks ago so it looks like they will cross-pollinate well. And you can tell the tree will be beautiful as it grows with careful pruning, that Raintree already started. I'm 100% satisfied.

Update: less than 2 weeks later and the tree is covered in flowers. I’ve bought about 20 fruit trees in my life. I’m not the world’s greatest expert but know a little bit. This is the best fruit tree I’ve ever bought. I’m amazed at the quality — it’s a beautiful round shape, was pruned beautifully, and arrived so healthy. And it’s just budding out like a madman. Thanks Raintree!

Although both the trees I received were alive and have since started putting out leaves, in no way were they four to five feet tall as ordered. One of them was just a stick that was about 2 ft tall. The other one was about 3 ft tall with a little bit of branching. But they were extremely small and they were $70 a piece. I won't be ordering again. You should send out what you say you're going to send out. It's enough of a stretch that I really have no idea what those trees are until the time comes that they get big enough to blossom and fruit. It'll be years before that happens. Seriously a 2-ft twig? As you can see it's not much bigger than the iris next to it. And the one with the branches that's sitting next to daffodils for comparison. In no way are those even remotely close to four or five feet.

Tree arrived on time, was packaged well and looks healthy. This is my second purchase from Raintree and I've been very pleased with both transactions.

The tree looked fine on arrival, not leafing yet, but it had several radial branches. It looked to be a fairly good specimen, or so I thought. I planted it (along with 5 other new apple trees -- from a different company) and it was completely dead within 6 weeks. I kept hoping it was just in shock and would at least produce some leaves, but nothing happened. I finally got the nerve to cut back branches to see if I could find green wood. Not an ounce of green. The Reliance Peach (ordered from Raintree) seems to be thriving. All my other trees are thriving (two even have apples!) Not sure what happened with this Dolgo Crabapple. Of course, it was well past the 30 days when I finally gave up home, so I'm sure a refund (or replacement) is out of the question.

All four crab trees I ordered, looked very strong and healthy, and they were pruned to a great shape. They were also packed well with only a few small broken branches.

Look great. Stout trunk, gigantic root system. Had to hold it due to weather here and potted them up. Looking healthy and have greened up quickly.

My bare root Dolgo came packaged very nicely. I planted it the next day and in less than 2 weeks it is blossomed out and seems very healthy. I will definitely be ordering from RainTree nursery in the future

Received the trees in fine shape and planted them the same day. They are budded out and looking healthy.

My Dolgo crabapple arrived healthy with many branches, and within a week of being in the ground it is giving off lots of green buds, preparing to leaf out for spring. Very happy with it!

I live in Vancouver, WA. This is my second Dolgo. My first was planted three years ago and last year produced enough to make two batches of crabapple jelly. I'm delighted with this crabapple.

Really impressed with the shipment, no damage and all plants are in good condition. Unfortunately the weather this year is a bit cold, I hope my plant survive. I have order a lots of fruits tree and plants from Raintree Nursery they never fail me.

Planted this spring, harvested about 12-15 fruit this fall. Delicious and tart right off the tree. My kids love them! Super brilliant, red color.

The tree arrived about 3 weeks ago, packaged quite nicely - the padding had secured the tree well, the extensive root system was well-preserved, and the branches were all fully intact. I soaked the tree s roots overnight and planted it the next day. It bloomed a week later, producing a good show of sweet-smelling, white blossoms. It s about 4 tall, has a nice shape, and seems to have taken well to the yard. I m very satisfied with my purchase.

Just received my Crabapple today. The packaging was great and the bare root tree was one of the nicest I have ever received buying online. It is approximately 4’ tall, beautifully shaped, and it looks fresh and healthy. Looking forward to having it in my yard.

This is a wonderful apple by size, taste and color. Some of the apples are two inches and taste even better than honey crisp. They are not fully ripen yet but already taste great and juicy. Next spring I am planning to buy some more. Some apples been eating by insects but not this one.
