Frequin Rouge Cider Apple
Malus domestica 'Frequin Rouge'
An ancient French 'bittersweet' cider variety from the Normandy region, that adds depth and complexity to all the blends where it is used. Not for eating - use all these ruby-red beauties to bring your ciders to the next level! Produces a deep amber juice.
Requires 600+ chill hours. Blooms mid-late (category 4), and ripens midseason. Tends to overbear - thin completely, especially when young, to avoid lapsing into a biennial bearing pattern.
