Pyrus communis 'Gem'

This disease-resistant beauty is a real jewel! Gem has proven itself in extensive testing around the nation and is newly released by the USDA and bred by Dr. Richard Bell.  The large, beautifully red-blushed fruit is juicy and sweet, with a delicious mild pear flavor. It ripens mid season and is a good keeper. It can be eaten mature from the tree while it is crisp and sweet or be stored and allowed to soften and ripen fully.

It is highly fire blight AND cedar trellis rust resistant and is very productive at an early age. Bloom category 1.

I planted this that’s supposed too be diseased

I planted this pear that’s supposed to be diseased resistant. I planted this between a moonglow and a Stark bro. Pear which are both Diseased resistant. This pear got every disease a pear could get. In the middle of a three week dry spell and I drip water my orchard. No other tree in my orchard (48) trees had a speck of anything all season.
I worked all season and it cams back strong. This year came and again everything a pear could get and it broke my back and it’s only July. Well it’s over Johnny, it’s never over until you rip it out of the ground on Tuesday morning when the trash truck comes around.
Now I’m looking for a new pear to take its place.

Bare root gem pears

I ordered two Gem Pears. They are the most beautiful bare-root trees I have purchased! We have over 30 fruit trees so we are not new to buying and planting trees. They arrived perfect and the instructions and advice from Raintree was excellent. These trees were so awesome I ordered two other trees after their arrival!
